Megala's Story

Meet Megala—a Shanti Bhavan graduate currently attending Duke University

About Shanti Bhavan

Established in 1997, Shanti Bhavan is a boarding school in South India dedicated to breaking the cycle of generational poverty.

Shanti Bhavan transforms lives by supporting children from underprivileged backgrounds to complete high school, earn college degrees, and secure meaningful employment.

Graduates from Shanti Bhavan have gone on to prestigious universities like Duke, Princeton, and Stanford and work for global companies like EY, Google, and Goldman Sachs.

After 28 years of proven results, there is no other model of intervention that holds more promise for India's poorest children and families.

As graduates rise out of poverty, they lift hundreds more with them, creating a ripple effect of lasting structural change.

The school’s unique impact and stories are showcased globally in the Netflix docuseries
Daughters of Destiny.
